O'Keeffe's Company's roots go back more than 20 years to an arid region on the Oregon-California border known as the Klamath Basin.

Bill O'Keeffe was a rancher in those areas. The harsh lifestyle, however, had had a terrible effect on his hands and feet. His daughter, Tara, seeing the pain caused by her chronically dry skin, was prompted to find a product that would relieve her father's severely dry and flaky skin.

Employing her skills as a pharmacist, Tara and her father spent years creating and testing various blended formulations in her kitchen, until, many years later, she developed the basic formula.
